Between Us is a mobile performance-based video-installation that takes place inside a car. Challenging the rising trend of perpetual electronic connection, Between Us explores the evolution of entertainment due to advancing technology.
Between Us consists of two live performative components--the online, and the offline. This website hosts the online portion of the project. The video channels will go live September 7th & 9th from 1PM-9PM PST. At 9PM, the artists will arrive at Washington High School for an onsite, offline performance.
Join us online/offline as Between Us takes "status updates" to the extreme, interrogating the ways in which staying connected impacts the fluid dichotomies between private and public spaces, confidentiality and disclosure, voyeurism and exhibitionism.
Tyler Wallace is a Portland-based artist working in video, installation, and performance to investigate concepts of identity and personal history.
Nicole Dill is a Portland-based artist whose work investigates the function of celebrity culture in contemporary society through photography, performance, sculpture, and installation.
Both Wallace and Dill have recently defended their theses at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, and received their BFA's in May 2009.
